Francisco Rodriguez Reinoso - Biography


Prof. Rodriguez-Reinoso is world-recognized leadership in the fields of activated carbon and adsorption, with more than 40 years o f experience in research on characterization, structural, porous, catalysts, etc.

He is full professor at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Alicante, Spain since 1981. Dr. Rodriguez Reinoso received his Doctorate in Chemistry in 1967 at the University of Granada, Spain. Topic: Preparation of activated carbons from olive stones.

His research experience is within the general area of Surface Chemistry of carbon and ceramic materials with special emphasis on activated carbon, carbon molecular sieves, carbons for gas storage, carbons for energy storage, carbon-supported catalysts, mesoporous carbons and carbon foams, isotropic graphite, carbon-ceramic and carbon-metal composites, structural ceramics, and ceramic-ceramic and metal-ceramic composites.

Prof. Rodriguez Reinoso has supervised 48 Ph.D. thesis and has been responsible of over 120 research projects and industrial contracts. He has more than 300 papers published in refereed journals, is author of 1 book (“Activated Carbon”, Ed. Elsevier, 2006), 10 chapters in books, encyclopedias and handbooks. He has 8 patents (4 of which are international) and has maintained an intense long-term interaction with carbon-related industry during his career.

He was President of the Spanish Carbon Group (1991-1999), and NATO consultant for the Science for Peace Programme during 2001-2007. From 1991, he is editor of the journal Carbon, and has been awarded for Lifetime Achievement by the Japan Carbon Society (2008) and by American Carbon Society (2010).

Prof. Rodriguez Reinoso is founder of G2M Tech and collaborates in development of new products and scientific supervision.
